Countdown Timer
Free, no account, works offline.
Set a date, a time and the city whose clock defines it, and watch the days, hours, minutes and seconds tick down. Anchoring to a city means everyone counting down sees the same number.
What it does
- Live to the second, with the target shown in both its own zone and yours.
- Anchored to a real moment, not to a local wall clock.
- Save several countdowns; they stay on this device.
- Counts up once the moment has passed.
The part most calculators get wrong
Anchoring. A launch at nine in Tokyo is one moment the whole world counts down to together, whereas nine o'clock local is a different moment for every reader. Picking a city is what makes a shared countdown mean the same thing to everyone.
Common questions
Why do I have to choose a city?
So the countdown points at one moment rather than a different one for each reader. If the event is wherever you are, pick your own city and nothing changes.
Does it keep running if I switch tabs?
It pauses while the tab is hidden, which is what browsers encourage and what saves battery, and resyncs the moment you come back. The number is always correct when you can see it.
What happens after the date passes?
It counts up instead, showing how long ago the moment was.
